The upcoming New Year is looking very promising, not just because we’ve seen some great spring looks and collections from top designers already, but also because ABC Family is premiering a brand new series. Jane By Design is their newest show, and best of all, it’s based on our favorite thing, fashion. Thanks to Lucky Magazine and ABC Family, New York Girl Style got a sneak peek at the first episode-and we can’t wait for this show to premiere.
The show is about high school student Jane Quimby, who mistakenly gets hired at fashion house Donovan Decker, for a full time personal assistant job instead of the internship program. Jane struggles between her life as a teenager, her high profile job, and trying to keep her identity as a high school student a secret from her new boss and co-workers. The show not only shows off some of the inner workings of the fashion world, but also some great fashions.
Olivia Miles is the costume designer and stylist for the show, and talked at the screening about pulling from many sources and designers for the show’s looks. Miles mentioned that she really wanted the input of the actors in what they wanted to wear on the show, she especially worked closely with Erica Dasher (Jane).
The show also stars Nick Roux as Jane’s rocker boyfriend Billy Nutter, Rowly Dennis as Jeremy Jones, India de Beaufort as India Jourdain, Meagan Tandy as Lulu Pope, Matthew Atkinson as Nick Fadden, and features Andie McDowell as Jane’s tough boss Gray Chandler Murray. We loved the preview of the pilot episode and we think you will too. Jane By Design premieres January 3, 2012 on ABC Family at 9pm.
