Handbags are something that can make or break an outfit, and as a purely New York design team, Oscar and Anna know this. One thing that sets them apart from all of the other designers inhabiting the fashion center of America is that one half of the team is a dog.
Although the line is named after her furry friend, Anna also derives inspiration from film, art and architecture. Just looking at her collection, you can see that every line is crisp and that the structure is carefully crafted. Her use of bright colors throughout the line gives vitality to the collection that is usually lacking in the neutral-toned bags of New York.
Her line is also functional. Given that she is a busy woman, it seems that Anna understands what a good bag should do. Even her clutches have a useful handle that allow the wearer to take it anywhere without fear of misplacing it.
Another unique thing about Oscar and Anna is that all of their bags are not only imagined, but made in New York City. Because of this, Anna knows how to infuse the essence of structure and energy that is New York into every bag she makes. Interestingly enough, she also creates bags for men, letting them into the fashion game with slick leather messenger bags.
If you want more of Oscar and Anna, they are having a trunk show between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. May 14 and 15 at Henri Bendel, and between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. on May 16 as well.
