Neighborhood Trends: Tribeca

The weather is finally nice in the city! I’ve been spending a lot of time outdoors, taking in the sun and the overall energetic energy throughout the city and find myself people watching the most down in Tribeca. Tribeca is a tricky neighborhood when it comes to style as you have the mix of Financial District wear with the trendiness of SoHo splashing in. I find that most of the time, the fashion comes somewhere in the middle of the two: business and trendy. With the weather getting warmer, skirts are getting shorter and tops are becoming skimpier. I can’t say that I dislike a crop top/skirt combo – so for this week’s neighborhood trend, I’ll display two of the outfits that I’ve seen: a trendy combo and a business combo.

(Left) Business | (Right) Casual

When it comes to dressing for business and still keeping your outfit trendy, nothing is easier than a printed pencil skirt. Pairing one statement piece with several pieces in neutral tones can turn any outfit ‘office friendly’ – even if you’re wearing a crop top! Since Tribeca is filled with artsy, younger New Yorkers, I tend to see this type of outfit on a woman working in an art gallery or walking out of a fashion house.

Casualness comes in the form of a monochromatic outfit with a pop of color in either a shoe or purse. In this case, my attention was captivated by a girl with a strong, bold purse in a great shade of red. Whether you’re in Tribeca shopping or grabbing lunch with friends, keep it casual this summer.
