Polo Match at Harriman Cup 2017

The 33rd annual polo match and fundraiser, otherwise known as the Harriman Cup, took place between Yale University and University of Virginia this past Saturday. Kicking off at Bethpage State Park in Long Island, New York, this event celebrates the life of former New York Governor, Averell Harriman, who has truly made an impact on the polo community, as a former polo player himself. Raising over 1 million in funds, this non-profit organization works to support the sport of polo, as well as the programs with both Yale and UVA.

With the attendance of friends and family, the fashion trends seen often mirror those of Preakness, a true symbol of prestige. Socialites come dressed in bright colors, preppy patterns, and structured ensembles. As summertime comes to a close, this often comes as a last chance for many attendees to sport their favorite warm weather dresses and shirts.

Competitions such as Best Dressed and Best Tailgate also take place throughout the event, where elites show off their finest attire. From heads of hair pinned up around fascinators, sunglasses tucked under floppy hats, and bold socks appearing from dress shoes, these attendees know what it takes when dressing to impress.
