Top Fashion Trends for 2018

Ringing in the new year is so exciting! Although it’s safe to say that much of my excitement on December 31st comes from popping bottles of champagne and wearing an outfit made entirely out of sequins (amirite?), there’s a wave of excitement that comes over me when that clock strikes midnight. A feeling of excitement and readiness to take on all that the new year has in store, whatever that may be…new job, new relationships, new adventures and, of course, new resolutions. And for those of you -like me- who are looking to up your style game in 2018, I’ve compiled a list of the top fashion trends this new year has to offer.

Whether you’re looking for a couple of new pieces to freshen up your closet or you’re resolution is to do a complete wardrobe overhaul, this year’s hottest trends are everything you need. Here are the top 10 fashion trends that are a must-try in 2018!

  1. Loving on Lavender. While Pantone made “Ultra Violet” the official color of the year for 2018, the runways opted for a more subtle version of it in the form of lavender. We saw it in skirts, dresses, sweaters and pantsuits. So follow their lead and brighten up your spring wardrobe with this pretty, feminine color!trend1_lavender
  2. Wide Legged Pants. Bigger is better this season, especially when it comes to your pants! Wide-leg pants have been flooding the fashion scene this season. Whether it’s a dress pant, cropped pant or everyday denim, wide-leg is the way to go!trend2_wide leg pants
  3. Pretty in Plaid. Just when we thought plaid was stuck back in the 90’s with the Hit me Baby One More Time video, it’s made a comeback and in a big way. From the runways to the street-style scene, from menswear-inspired pantsuits to plaid-laden accessories, this pattern is a must-have as you update your 2018 closet. trend3_plaid
  4. Trench Coats. Although trench coats have always been a wardrobe staple, the Spring 2018 runways boasted fresh updates on this classic piece. Whether it was updated hardware, fresh new cuts or updated textures, there’s a trench coat for every style and taste.trend4_trench
  5. Fringe with benefits. Fringe has always been a fun element in fashion and this season it’s back and better than ever. Found in new colors, new pieces and new accessories, the runways gave us over-the-top, dramatic fringe details from the likes of Calvin Klein, Celine and more.trend5_fringe
  6. Statement Earrings. This trend showed up last year and we are thrilled to say that it’s here to stay! Whether it’s an oversized hoop or an acrylic structured design, earrings are bigger than ever! Take your outfit to the next level by adding a statement earring. trend6_earrings
  7. Bold Florals. Florals never quite leave the fashion season cycles, but this season it was brought to us in the form of a retro, 60’s vibe. Formerly found on your grandmother’s couch or on a dated tablecloth, this season’s courageous trend was shown in both full outfits and separate pieces.trend7_florals
  8. Throwback Workout Clothes. Nodding (again) to the 90’s, this trend was shown in the form of brightly colored windbreaker jackets and pants, zip-ups, shorts and more. Athleisure has become more and more popular over the last couple of year, but this takes us back to the good ol’ Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons days. So why not be trendy and comfy this season?!trend8_athleisure
  9. Pretty in Plastic. It sounds a bit odd, but this trend was huge on the runways. We first noticed the PVC/plastic trend in the Yeezy fashion shows and now fashion giants such as Calvin Klein, Balmain and Chanel hopped on board. They gave us everything from rain jackets to boots, shoes and accessories, all in clear plastic.trend9_plastic
  10. The Micro Purse. We’ve seen it more and more both on the streets and on the runways, the micro purse is a major accessory right now. Just big enough to carry some credit cards and your phone, these mini pieces are small but make a big statement.trend10_purse
