The popular British retailer Topshop opens their second US location in Chicago next Autumn 2011.
The big city life appealed Topshop’s managing director Mary Homer to the Windy city.
“A bustling, vibrant city of culture with a dynamic love of fashion, I feel confident that the local community and tourists alike will be drawn to Topshop and our trend-driven, ever-evolving ranges.”
The grand 30,000-square-foot store will open in a corner location on the city’s tony Michigan Avenue, next to Filene’s Basement.
The only downside to the new store opening is the exchange rate almost doubling the expense for  Americans than in Europe.
Topshop Owner Phillip Green is aware of the state of the economy, but is confident that his shop will flourish despite the bad times.
“Today your products have to be better than ever,” he said. “There’s no hiding. The key is to have great merchandise.”
Their emergence in the United States will expand with their sights on the next U.S. cities of Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, with Miami and a second New York location in the plans.
Too bad the final full Kate Moss for Topshop collection will not be in the Chicago store, as it is launching in London on Nov. 4. but hopefully it will make an appearance soon.
