Gossip Girl star Blake Lively has taken over the advertising campaign for Chanel’s newest Mademoiselle bag with her signature style. The ads are slated to begin their run this week and end their time in fashion magazines in June.
In an interview about the line with WWD Magazine, the actress talked about her unique sense of style. From her role as the ever-fashionable Serena Van Der Woodson to her everyday style, Lively frequently turns heads with her fresh and original looks.
“Fashion is the great character on our show,” Lively said
According to Lively, her mother, a model, instilled a sense of fashion in her from an early age, frequenting vintage shops and taking up sewing projects. She sites actresses like Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, and Sienna Miller among her fashion inspirations. The actress also loves Katharine Hepburn’s signature look.
“I love when a woman can be empowered and glamorous but also add the strength of masculinity,” Blake said.
Now, the starlet is representing one of the most infamous brands in the fashion universe. What was the actress’ reaction to the news that she would star in the brands latest set of advertisements?
“I have such a respect for fashion and such an appreciation for it that if there are people like Karl Lagerfeld out there designing, who am I?” she said. “I want to bow down to them and be a representative for them if they’ll have me.”
Lively’s respects Lagerfeld’s work so much, that she expressed shock that the photos taken of her weren’t “with my jaw on the floor”. The actress even took a behind the scenes shot of Lagerfeld from her own phone.
One thing’s for certain, after viewing her already heralded style and the actresses shots for the brand, Lively is a fashion powerhouse ready to emerge.
