The Kardashian Powerhouse

Regardless of interest, it is near impossible to ignore the Kardashians. They are the family that made a brand of their interpersonal relationships. The clan is comprised of Kourtney, 31, Kim, 30, Khloe, 26, Robert, 23, Kendall, 15, and Kylie, 13. Each member contributes their own unique personality to add to the hysteria and success of the television show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Last year the family raked in $65 million. The Hollywood Reporter did a piece investigating their track to global fame.


When first pitched to E!, the network had concerns about the families ability to generate attention. Lisa Berger, Executive VP of Original Programming at E! said, “We got a call from Ryan Seacrest asking if we had met with the Kardashian sisters. I said, ‘Honest to God, I’m not sure there’s a show there.’’

Not only did the show explode with success, but the Kardashians have become icons of fashion and beauty. Brands recognize their marketing power and are some of the most sought after sponsors. The fabulous brunette crew is not going anywhere.

Bruce and Kris Jenner are the parents of the busy bunch. Kris coined the term “mommager” and is the leading force behind the Kardashian’s rampant success. She is quirky, fun, and relatable. Once widely popular on television, the family had the opportunity to expand to much more.

Currently, the Kardashians are involved in an array of projects. Their book, Kardashian Konfidential, has shipped 275,000 copies and has been on the New York Times best-seller list since December. Kim has a fragrance out with Sephora and was one of the top sellers last year. Khloe and LA Laker husband, Lamar Odom, released their unisex fragrance on Feb. 12 and stores are already sold out. A new lifestyle collection for Sears is also in the works. The sister’s also promoted QuickTrim. And there is still more. They have skin care, clothing lines, sneakers, swimwear, liquor, and lipstick. Finally, there are the three Dash clothing stores in Calabasas, Miami, and New York City.
The Kardashian impact is global and they are famous all over the world. Berger said, “It has changed the face of E!. We were a place to report on celebrity; we weren’t a place to break and make a celebrity, which is now the whole idea of the E! brand.” The Kardashians are definitely not slowing down anytime soon.
