Recently, singer and fashion designer Gwen Stefani sat down with CNN to discuss her look and her successful line, L.A.M.B. Stefani is one of the few celebrity fashion designers that has created a line with proven staying power, its . The long-time fashion icon talked about her signature style and outlook on designing.
“I think fashion is more of a fun sort of thing. It’s an expression of yourself and your personality and your mood, it’s not something we take super deep,” Stefani said.
Stefani said that she started the line when she wasn’t sure about her future as a singer, with her band No Doubt or as a solo artist.
“I started the line honestly because nine or 10 years ago I didn’t know how long I would be doing music,” Stefani said, “They ask you ‘What are you going to do in 10 years,’ and I didn’t know, I just thought by then I want to have a family and I’m not going to be doing music but I wanted to do something creative.”
According to Stefani, she designs pieces that fit her own style and that she would
have no hesitation wearing. Stefani also said that she never takes the line too seriously and isn’t trying to design couture, but everyday wear.
“For me the line is genuinely for myself. I want to make a line of clothes that I want to wear — it’s kind of selfish…I’m not going to ever be a Vivienne Westwood. I’m trying to make clothes to wear everyday, that’s what L.A.M.B. is. It’s not a couture line,” Stefani told the news network.
