Sofia Vergaras Easy, Breezy, Beautiful CoverGirl

It was just announced that Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara will be the newest face of CoverGirl cosmetics, joining the ranks of celebrity spokespeople like Tyra Banks, Queen Latifah, Molly Sims, Taylor Swift, Drew Barrymore, Ellen Degeneres and Christie Brinkley. Vergara broke the news on her own Twitter and Facebook this week, writing “Hola! Can’t hold this secret any longer! I am the new @COVERGIRL…I’m so honored to be part of this amazing group of women. There’s a cover girl in all of us.”

Vergara had grest things to say about the brand, mentioning that she’d developed a love for the cosmetics brand at an early age.

“I’ve always wanted to be a CoverGirl.” Vergara said. “I always loved seeing the pictures of the campaigns in magazine. My mother used to do her makeup everyday, and I used to watch her, just fascinated. I’ve always had a very good relationship with makeup; it’s one of my favorite things.”

Vergara said that she was excited, as a person of Latin American descent, to become associated with such a well-known beauty brand. Vergara also spoke about the lack of Hispanic women traditionally used to market beauty products.

“When you grow up, you look up to girls in the magazines, and you never think you’re going to be that pretty, or that well made-up, or that glamorous,” Vergara said. ”I love that I have the Latina flavor; Latin girls can relate to me, see what I’m wearing, see my makeup, my hairstyle.” Sofia Vergaras joins the global Latina beauties which includes Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Alba.

Sofia’s ads for the company will begin to run in January of next year.
