Joey Maalouf’s Exclusive Interview with New York Girl Style

In the world of celebrity hair stylist one has hit the radar that is unique in his approach in making a women look and feel radiant and beautiful. After New York Girl Style’s Editor-in-Chief, Caroline Rodehau, finished an exclusive interview with Joey Maalouf, it was clear why this hairstyling genius is in such high demand with the stars.  Joey is a double threat, specializing in hair and makeup, and has worked on editorial shoots with the likes of Eva Mendes, Kim Kardashian and Rachel Zoe. On his styling approach Joey say’s “that using each woman’s natural beauty is key when creating a hair or makeup look for them”. This hairstylist has a natural talent and effective approach to making a woman feel gorgeous.

During the interview, Joey lent us his expertise with some insider tips on How To Get ‘model off-duty’ hair.  This coveted look comes from the beachy wave seen in models’ and celebrities’ hair that looks so natural and effortless.  Joey explained how simple it is to replicate this look at home.

To start, take your damp hair and part it down the middle.  Spritz it with a wave spray while wet, and then braid each side tightly.  Leave two inches at the bottom to give your waves a more natural feel.  Joey says, “loosen the strands of the braid slightly to give the perfect undone look.”  Then, allow your hair to fully dry.  You can sleep on your braids, let them air dry or use a blow dryer to remove a majority of the moisture.  Once dry, undo each braid and tousle your hair to create texture.  Next, Joey recommended adding full curls to random sections of the hair as a way to break up the wave.  Finally, spray your hair with hairspray to ensure your ‘model off-duty’ hair lasts all day. His styling tips can also be seen on the Rachael Zoe Project on Bravo. You can view the How To video and watch Joey in action do his magic on getting natural wavy hair.
