Inspired by motocross and Nascar, Alexander Wang designed a Spring 2012 line dedicated to edgy New York style street wear infused with geometric shapes on loose sweaters and blacked out floral prints on biker tops. Combining edge + chic isn’t unique to Wang, but as New York’s resident hip designer, city girls have happily flocked to his exposed zippered dresses, mesh tops and spiked bags. Show me a style blog without a Wang feature and I’ll show you a blogger who is out of touch with what’s modern.
Spring is right around a New York block and Wang has pieces that will delight and strengthen your wardrobe,
while tickling your edgy side. Splashes of vivid hues peek out from beneath meshed tops and are eager to be worn with your favorite skinnies. Florals for Spring isn’t groundbreaking, but Wang manages to keep it fresh by pairing bold botanical prints with structured pants and tailored jackets and dresses.
The chicest pieces from the collection are the geometric, race track designs on Wang’s oversized intarsia sweaters. Can’t you envision these knits taking over you closet? Wear them with leggings or over bathing suits and Spring/Summer can’t come soon enough.
If you have a more conservative style, T by Alexander
Wang offers you basics and closet staples. Filled with sheer collared shirts in soft pinks and whites, body-sculpted dresses in muted grays and classic sportswear separates, you’ll find the clothes to round out your closet.
Expect to see pieces from both collections during the upcoming round of fashion shows. Women will fall in love with the combination of mixing stylish pieces from the east coast to the west coast. Which ones will you be rocking in to your spring outfit?
