Each fashion week, I always make a point to pay close attention to the trends and themes that are presented at each show. I like to watch out for recurring color schemes, silhouettes and proportions that catch my eye on the runways. As a fashion stylist, I am constantly on the lookout for new and innovative styles that I can expect to see from some of New York's most innovative designers.

One whose collection particularly stood out during fashion week was presented by Phillip Lim, one of the fashion world's most 'talked about' new designers. Mr. Lim presented his Fall 2007 collection with a broad range of progressive silhouettes, some with subtle masculine undertones, which he's become known for doing so well. Shown in a palette consisting heavily in soft neutrals and earth tones with the occasional pop of vibrant yellow or red, the color throughout was very pleasing to the eye. On showcase was a spectrum of everything from a man-tailored opening look to sexy mini dresses and gathered chiffon gowns. There was a refreshing sense of simplicity to the collection that is clearly veering fashion in a new direction. With the Fall season upon us, it will be clear to see how collections such as this are influencing the way girls are dressing these days.
